Blackbutt Classic is a golden-brown Australian blackbutt look with natural gum veins. It suits classic Australian interiors and pairs with cream walls. Apollo Hardwood reproduces Australian species – Blackbutt and Spotted Gum – on a narrow 152mm hybrid board, with the colour variation and gum veins of the real timber. Blackbutt Classic is one of 10 colours in the range.

Where it works best

Apollo Hardwood suits living areas, kitchens, hallways and bedrooms when installed to the manufacturer’s instructions. Wet areas must be isolated from the adjoining floor with a T-mould, end cap or similar; do not run the floor continuously through the wet-area doorway. Its mid tone is the most forgiving choice for everyday marks and suits almost any wall colour.

Installation and care

Godfrey Hirst hybrid must not be installed over electrical radiant heating. Properly installed hydronic systems may be suitable subject to the manufacturer instructions. Refer to the current Apollo Hardwood manufacturer downloads, including Hybrid AU Installation Instructions (August 2026), for moisture testing, expansion joints, wet-area requirements and heating restrictions.

Apollo Hardwood floats over concrete slabs, tiles, timber and existing sheet flooring that is flat, dry and clean. Boards click together with the Unipush® tap fold-down system and need no glue, and the attached backing means no extra underlay. Sweep or vacuum regularly and damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install it in a bathroom?
Only in the Category 3 wet areas specified by Godfrey Hirst, subject to all installation conditions. The area must be under 12m², without a floor waste, shower area or freestanding bath, separated from adjoining flooring at the doorway, and perimeter-sealed. Required building waterproofing and local approvals still apply.

Do I need underlay?
No. A 1.5mm acoustic underlay is already attached to every board.

How many boxes do I need?
Each box covers 1.67m². Measure your room area, add about 10% for cuts and wastage, and divide by 1.67.
