Start with the colour, grain and scale of the pattern. Compare pale oak, warm natural tones, greys and deeper browns against your cabinetry and furniture. Check samples in your own room, as lighting and natural timber variation affect the finished appearance.

Compare board thickness and the real timber wear layer separately. Godfrey Hirst Corsica Chevron has a 14mm construction with a 3mm oak wear layer. De Marque Chevron includes 15/4mm and 21/6mm options. Chevron Flooring Prices and Installation

Your chevron flooring quote depends on the selected collection, required quantity and installation scope. For a complete project budget, allow for delivery, existing floor removal, subfloor preparation, adhesive or underlay where specified, trims and installation labour.

Chevron needs careful set-out so the pattern aligns through the room and adjoining spaces. Your installer should assess the subfloor, moisture conditions and finished floor height. Installation methods vary by product: De Marque parquetry requires direct adhesive fixing; other collections must follow their own manufacturer’s instructions.

What is the difference between chevron and herringbone flooring?

Chevron uses boards with angled ends that meet in a continuous V. Herringbone flooring uses rectangular boards laid at right angles in a staggered zigzag. Both are parquetry patterns; the main visible difference is how the ends meet.

Is chevron engineered flooring real timber?

Yes. The engineered timber collections shown here have a real oak surface bonded to an engineered core. Wear layer thickness, finish and natural features vary by collection, so compare the specifications alongside your colour samples.

Is chevron flooring waterproof?

The chevron pattern does not determine water resistance. Do not treat the engineered timber collections shown here as waterproof. Clean spills promptly and follow the selected product’s care instructions. Check suitability before specifying timber for bathrooms, laundries or other wet areas.

Can chevron flooring be installed as a floating floor?

This depends on the product. De Marque Chevron requires direct adhesive installation and is not suitable for floating. Confirm the approved method for your chosen collection with the manufacturer’s installation guide and your installer before purchasing underlay or adhesive.

How much extra chevron flooring should I order?

Ask your installer to calculate the allowance from the floor plan and chosen pattern. Room shape, borders, cuts and visual selection affect wastage. Order in full cartons and confirm quantities before purchase; a straight plank allowance may be insufficient for chevron.

Does chevron flooring work in small rooms?

It can. Consider the size of the blocks, the direction of the V and the amount of visible grain. Lighter colours and a carefully planned layout can suit compact spaces. Compare samples and discuss the pattern direction before installation.
