Aluminium trims: which profile and thickness
T-moulding (35mm cover) joins two floors of the same height at a doorway. Adjustable border (25mm cover) finishes the floor edge against tiles, carpet or a sliding-door track and adjusts to small height differences. U channel (19mm cover) caps an exposed plank edge. Universal (42mm cover) covers a step down to a lower floor, and the reducer does the same job for 12–21mm floors. L multi-angle (20mm cover, 2700mm) finishes edges at steps and thresholds.
Pick the thickness group to suit the floor: 6.5–8mm for hybrid and vinyl planks, 12–15mm for laminate and 14mm engineered boards, 21mm for solid and 21mm engineered timber. Basic finishes are Champagne, Gold and Silver; the timber-look colours are Black, Blackbutt, Coffee Bamboo, Jarrah, Kempas, Latte, Lugarno, Marble, Mink Grey, Moon, Natural Bamboo, Oak, Parana, Porcelain, Rock, Snow, Spotted Gum, Sunshine, Teak, Walnut, Zermatt.
Scotia for hybrid, vinyl, laminate and timber
WPC scotia is waterproof and made for hybrid and vinyl floors, including wet areas. Colours: Brown Stone, Coastal Blackbutt, Chicory, Crystal, Crystal Lake, Dolomite, Flagstone, Harlem, Homestead, Iron Ridge, Jarrah, Maize, Mountain Oak, New England Blackbutt, NSW Spotted Gum, Pebble Beach, Porcelain, QLD Spotted Gum, Sandy Bluff, Silver Moon, Warm Spring, Wheat. MDF scotia is the dry-area option in Alabaster, Aspen, Barrique, Beach, Beaver, Black, Blackbutt, Brazilian Oak, Capital, Coffee, Crema, Dark Leysin, Ghost Gum, Glacier, Helsinki, Jarrah, Kempas, Lemon Spotted Gum, Leysin, Limesmoke, Lugarno, Millstone, Misty Cove, Mountain Blackbutt, Natural, Parana, Pearl Shell, Rock, Seashell, Silk Grey, Spotted Gum, Sunshine, Wheat, White, Zermatt. Raw timber scotia (2500 x 18 x 18mm) and primed MDF scotia (2400 x 20 x 20mm) are supplied ready to paint.

- Laminate: Oakleaf 8mm and 12mm (2400mm), Classic laminate bullnose (2400mm), Oakleaf HD 8mm (1215mm) and 12mm (2200mm) with aluminium insert, Kronoswiss 8, 12 and 14mm square nosing with silver insert.
- Vinyl: Ultimo 2.5mm and 4.5mm (1500mm).
- Hybrid: Aspire and Hydroplank (1800mm), Easi-Plank (2200mm), Iconic (1500mm), Lifestyle (1800mm).
- Timber: Select Australian timber (1820mm), Fiddleback 14/3 (1860mm), Prestige Oak 12, 14 and 15mm (1900mm) and 21mm (2200mm) including AB grade, De Marque 15mm (2200mm), Pronto Oak (1900mm).
How to order
Choose the category, then the profile, then the colour. For stair nosing choose Match to floor colour and tell us the floor colour at checkout. Colour matches follow Preference Floors’ own list – for example Easi-Plank Natural Blackbutt takes WPC scotia in Coastal Blackbutt, MDF scotia in Mountain Blackbutt, aluminium trims in Latte and the Easi-Plank stair nosing. Which aluminium trim thickness do I need?
Match the trim to the floor thickness: 6.5–8mm for hybrid and vinyl planks such as Easi-Plank, Aspire, Iconic and Hydroplank; 12–15mm for laminate and 14mm engineered boards; 21mm for 21mm timber. Every profile is listed by thickness group, so choose the group first and then the colour.
How do I get the right colour trim for my Preference floor?
Preference Floors publishes a colour match for every floor colour: a WPC scotia, an MDF scotia and an aluminium trim colour. The Easi-Plank product pages list these under the Trims tab, and the links open this page with the right profile and colour already selected. For any other Preference colour, send us the floor colour and we will confirm the match.
Which scotia is right for a hybrid floor?
Use WPC scotia for hybrid and vinyl floors. It is waterproof, so it suits kitchens, laundries and bathrooms where MDF scotia would swell. MDF scotia is the lower-cost option for dry areas and comes in 35 colours; raw timber and primed MDF scotia are for painting on site.
Are stair nosings colour matched?
Yes. Each Preference range has its own nosing profile, made in the range’s colours. Choose the nosing for your range, select Match to floor colour and tell us the floor colour at checkout; lengths are 1215–2400mm depending on the range.
How are the trims priced and delivered?
All prices are per length, ex-installation. Trims ship with your flooring order or on their own; pickup from our Brisbane warehouse is free and door-to-door delivery is quoted at checkout.
