Shield is a light grey oak with weathered grain and cracks. It suits coastal-grey and rustic-modern interiors. Apollo is Godfrey Hirst’s entry-level hybrid: a 5.8mm waterproof board with a 0.3mm wear layer, ideal for bedrooms, rentals and budget renovations. Shield is one of 12 colours in the range.

Where it works best

Because Apollo is waterproof and hard wearing, Shield can run through open-plan living, kitchens, hallways, bedrooms and wet areas without a change of floor at doorways. Its light tone helps smaller or south-facing rooms feel larger and hides dust and pet hair better than very dark floors.

Installation and care

Apollo floats over concrete slabs, tiles, timber and existing sheet flooring that is flat, dry and clean. Boards click together with the Unipush® tap fold-down system and need no glue, and the attached backing means no extra underlay. Sweep or vacuum regularly and damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Can I install it in a bathroom?
Yes. The limestone-composite core is waterproof, so it is suitable for bathrooms and laundries when installed to Godfrey Hirst’s guidelines.

Do I need underlay?
No. A 1.5mm acoustic underlay is already attached to every board.

How many boxes do I need?
Each box covers 2.2m². Measure your room area, add about 10% for cuts and wastage, and divide by 2.2.
