Airlay Sierra PVC Coal – near-black with subtle navy stripes carpet tile
Coal is the near-black with subtle navy stripes colour in the Sierra PVC range. Sierra is a dark-base loop tile with fine linear stripes in a contrast colour, a practical floor for offices that still reads as a design. Coal is one of 7 colours in the range.
Why choose Sierra PVC Coal
- 100% solution-dyed nylon – solution-dyed yarn holds its colour through the fibre, so it resists fading and cleans up well.
- Tufted multi-level loop pile – a low, dense pile that stands up to chairs, castors and foot traffic.
- PVC with recycled content backing – a heavy, flat-lying base that stays put under castors and is easy to lift and replace one tile at a time.
- Modular tile format – 50cm x 50cm, laid loose or tacked with a release adhesive, so worn or stained tiles swap out without disturbing the rest of the floor.
- 15-year limited warranty from Airlay.

Where it works best
Coal suits offices, meeting rooms, retail fit-outs, education and healthcare spaces, and works equally well in home studies and media rooms where a hard-wearing, easy-care floor is wanted. Its dark tone works best in bright, generous rooms and gives strong contrast to pale walls and light furniture.
Installation and care
Sierra PVC tiles are laid over a smooth, dry, level subfloor with a release adhesive or tackifier, in a quarter-turn, brick or ashlar pattern. Vacuum regularly and spot-clean spills promptly; the tiles can be lifted for deeper cleaning or replacement.

Frequently asked questions
Can I lay carpet tiles myself?
Yes – modular carpet is one of the most DIY-friendly floors. Prepare the subfloor, use the recommended tackifier and follow the arrows on the back for direction.
Is it suitable for commercial use?
Yes. Sierra PVC is rated for commercial traffic, and the modular format means damaged tiles are replaced individually rather than relaying a room.
How many cartons do I need?
Each carton covers 5m². Measure your room area, add about 10% for cuts and wastage, and divide by 5.
