Easi-Plank SPC Hybrid Flooring Review

Easi-Plank SPC Classic Spotted Gum hybrid flooring plank

Easi-Plank is one of the SPC (stone polymer composite) hybrid ranges we stock at The Flooring Guys, and it’s a regular pick for households that want a real timber look without the maintenance overhead of solid timber. This review covers what’s in the plank, where it suits, where it doesn’t, and how it stacks up against other hybrid flooring brands in the Australian market.

What you’re actually buying

Easi-Plank is a rigid SPC core plank with a printed timber-look wear layer and a pre-attached IXPE acoustic underlay. The core gives it dimensional stability — it doesn’t expand or contract with temperature swings the way laminate does — and the IXPE underlay means you don’t need to lay a separate foam underlay before installation.

  • SPC core, fully waterproof from top to bottom
  • Pre-attached IXPE underlay (no separate underlay required)
  • Embossed wear layer for grip and a more realistic timber feel
  • Click-lock joinery, glueless install over a level subfloor
  • Manufacturer warranty covering both residential and light commercial use

Where Easi-Plank works well

Because the core is waterproof, Easi-Plank suits the rooms where laminate or engineered timber would struggle: kitchens with regular spills, laundries, downstairs living areas on slab, and even bathrooms if the silicone seal at the perimeter is done properly. The wear layer holds up to dropped pans and dog claws better than most timber-look products in the same price bracket, which makes it a sensible choice for households with kids or pets.

Where it doesn’t suit

SPC is hard underfoot. If sound transmission to the room below matters — for example, in an upstairs apartment — the IXPE underlay helps, but a thicker acoustic underlay rated to the body-corporate spec may still be required. Easi-Plank also doesn’t suit subfloors that aren’t level: SPC won’t hide undulation the way carpet does, and a high spot will telegraph through and make the joint click apart over time. We’d recommend self-levelling anything outside a 3 mm tolerance over a 2 m span before install.

The range and colours

The Easi-Plank range covers the colours most Australian buyers ask for: Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, and natural oak tones. The Smoked Spotted Gum sits at the deeper end of the palette and pairs well with white kitchen joinery and matte-black tapware. The Antique reads warmer and works in heritage-leaning interiors. The lighter natural oaks suit the bright, north-facing open-plan layouts common in newer builds.

How it compares to other hybrids

Easi-Plank is squarely in the SPC family. If you’re cross-shopping it against an RCB (rigid core board) hybrid, the practical difference is rigidity: SPC is denser and more stable, RCB is slightly softer underfoot but a bit more forgiving on imperfect subfloors. We’ve written a full SPC vs RCB comparison if you want to dig into that decision. If your priority is the cheapest plank that still looks like timber, laminate may suit; if your priority is a real timber surface, engineered timber is the path. Easi-Plank is the middle ground — closer to timber than laminate, more practical than engineered for wet zones.

Should you buy it?

If you want one floor across kitchen, living, and laundry that handles spills, scratches and the daily knock-about of a busy home, Easi-Plank is a fair pick. If you’re prioritising acoustic comfort or you’re laying over a problem subfloor, factor the underlay or self-levelling into your budget before deciding. We carry Easi-Plank across our Sydney and Brisbane showrooms — bring a swatch home, look at it under your own light, and see how it sits next to your joinery before you commit.
