Sheer, blockout & S-fold curtains
Bring softness, privacy and a considered finish to your Brisbane home with curtains made to measure. The Flooring Guys helps you compare sheer and blockout fabrics, S-fold and pinch pleat headings, lining and motorised options. Start with how you use the room, then choose the look and level of light control that suit your windows.

Sheer curtains
Soften daylight with flowing fabric. Add a separate layer where night-time privacy is needed.
Blockout & lined curtains
Compare fabrics and linings for bedrooms and rooms that need stronger light control.
S-fold & pinch pleat
Choose the heading and track around the look, finished drop and space beside your windows.
Choose the fabric for the room
Sheer curtains soften daylight and reduce direct views into a room during the day. They suit living areas where you want an open, light feel. When your room is lit after dark, people outside may see through the fabric, so a sheer alone is not a night-time privacy solution.
For bedrooms, compare blockout fabric or a lined curtain. A fabric’s light-blocking performance does not mean the whole window will be completely dark: light can still enter around the track, sides and bottom. Layering a sheer with blockout curtains or made-to-measure blinds gives you separate daytime and evening options.
S-fold or pinch pleat: shape and fit
Fabric and heading do different jobs. S-fold creates regular waves along the track; pinch pleat gathers the fabric into a more tailored shape. Either choice needs enough space for the curtain to hang and stack when open.
At the measure, discuss whether the track should sit on the wall or ceiling, how far it should extend beyond the window and the finished drop you prefer. Include nearby doors, furniture and air-conditioning outlets in that conversation. For motorised tracks, confirm power, controls and compatibility before ordering.
A clear starting point for your curtain budget
Indicative supply-only prices are $93.50–$121 per metre of measured width for sheers and $148.50–$192.50 for blockout curtains, including GST. These ranges are a starting point, rather than a fixed quote for every fabric and window.
Confirm the fabric, heading, drop, track, lining and any motorisation in your written quote. Optional standard installation is $38.50 per item including GST; the final quote confirms the work required. Use our window furnishing estimator to explore a budget, then request a free measure and quote.
Plan your Brisbane measure and quote
Send your suburb, a few window photos, approximate dimensions and the rooms you want to furnish. Tell us whether privacy, softer light or bedroom darkness matters most. Photos help start the discussion; final measurements confirm the order.

Choose texture as well as colour
Compare a sheer’s openness, the weight of a blockout fabric and how the material looks against your flooring. Compare fabric samples, then confirm the fabric and finish available for your order.
Discuss your windows with our teamCurtains Brisbane: your questions answered
Are sheer curtains private at night?
Not reliably. With the room lights on, people outside may see through a sheer. Add a blockout curtain or a suitable blind when evening privacy matters.
Is S-fold a type of blockout fabric?
No. S-fold describes the heading and folds. Sheer or blockout fabric determines the light filtering and privacy performance; the heading controls the shape.
Can I combine sheers and blockout curtains?
Yes. Separate layers let you use sheers for softer daylight, then close the blockout layer for greater privacy and light control.
Can my curtains be motorised?
Motorised options are available. We need to confirm your track, curtain weight, power arrangements and preferred controls before specifying a suitable system.
What should I bring to a curtain enquiry?
Window photos, your Brisbane suburb, approximate sizes and a few style references are useful. Tell us your budget and how you want each room to feel.
