Engineered timber flooring is manufactured from real timber, with a 0.6-3mm wear layer and either a pine core with spruce backing or a multiply core for additional stability.  Engineered timber flooring combines the beauty and natural variation of real timber with added stability engineered core at an affordable price.  Tongue and Groove and Click system installation options are available, and engineered timber flooring is suitable for floating installation and for direct stick applications to give the real timber feel and sound under foot.

Engineered flooring is a layer of hardwood veneer applied to either a multi-layer wood veneer or manufactured substrate that provides enhanced structural stability. Is wood flooring durable?

Some species of hardwood are denser, therefore more durable than others, but overall hardwood is quite durable and has been used in homes and buildings for hundreds of years. Minor scratches in wood flooring can easily be repaired. For major scratches, planks can be replaced, or the floor can be refinished, adding to the length of the life of the hardwood floor.

How do I install engineered wood flooring?

Below are common installation methods for hardwood flooring. Please note that not all hardwood flooring is not considered Do It Yourself flooring and hiring a trained and certified professional installer is recommended. It is important to consider the substrate and product you are installing. Not all substrate surfaces allow for the varying installation methods. What is a floating installation method?

Floating means the flooring is not attached to the sub-floor but adhered to itself typically through a locking mechanism along the sides of the board. The floor will “float” across the subfloor. This is typically the most Do It Yourself friendly installation method.

Do I need to acclimate my wood flooring?

Yes, all hardwood and flooring should be acclimated per the installation instructions.

What is underlayment?

Underlayments are used to provide Moisture and Sound protection underneath a floating floor or a nail/staple down flooring option. These products provide enhanced sound and moisture protection through varying levels of density.

What should I do to my subfloor before installing engineered flooring?

Before starting an installation, subfloor preparation is the key to the best possible installation. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and flat before beginning. Removing all dust or debris along with ensuring a smooth and flat substrate will allow for the best bond and prevent any structural issues long term.
